During its heyday, the now defunct
"Berliner"
provided colorful, detailed dog prints from various German animal artists in a special section of their newspaper. This lovely collection comes from the highly regarded animal artist R. Scholz.
Scholz specialized in paintings and etchings of dogs of all breeds. He worked in pencil, pen, ink and oil and was best known for his work in pastels. His brilliant color dog illustrations such as these, were highly prized and collected.
