This card was purchased in Antwerp, Belgium by my friend, Lotje. She scours all the great cities of Europe for unusual and beautiful vintage and antique postcards.
This postcard was shipped from The Netherlands to the USA by Lotje.
The title of this postcard is:   "
The Grooming of Pataud
".  On the front of this vintage postcard is a photo portrait of a delightful Fox Terrier and a beautiful little girl.  The little girl is getting ready to use a razor on the dog's beard.   Like all Terriers...this one is smart.  He isn't so sure he wants a haircut from a little girl.       Under the portrait is a poem in French.    Here is an English translation of that poem:
"Be quiet, look,
I’m going to sharpen my razor
In order to cut your beard better.
You will be very beautiful you will see!"
Next to the poem someone has handwritten a set of initials.  On the back is a handwritten address in Belgium, a Belgian stamp and a 1945 postmark.    It was originally made in Belgium.
Measurements are approximately: 3.5" x 5.5" so this is a standard size postcard.   Aside from some signs of surface wear, this card is still easy to see and appreciate!
