Description

OMAN—RARE 1998 International Peace Award full sheetlet MNH/VF—Scott 405
This gorgeously gold-embossed stamp honors Sultan Qaboos as winner of the International Peace award in 1998. It is rare, as the issue had a very limited printing, and only a few full sheetlets remain. Scott 405 prices a single stamp at ; Michel 447 at Euros 18 (about ).
Michel also prices the full sheetlet at Euros 450 (about 0).
MNH/VF.
The Award itself is unusual. In October 1998, the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations was joined by American, Georgetown, and Harvard Universities, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the United States Air Force Academy, and twenty-nine other American national non-profit organizations in presenting its first of its kind award ever bestowed upon an Arab head of state — the International Peace Award — to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman. Former American President Jimmy Carter presented the award, which was accepted on behalf of His Majesty by longtime Omani Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yousef Abdallah Alawi.
NOTICE: Because of the size of this sheet, it must be mailed in a large envelope with protective wrappings (and Customs declaration for international mailings). Therefore, the shipping charge will be within the USA or to any international address. You can reduce the high shipping charge by purchasing other items which will be combined with this shipment, saving their separate fees.
