This card was purchased in Amsterdam, Netherlands by my friend, Lotje. She scours all the great cities of Europe for unusual and beautiful vintage and antique postcards.
This postcard was shipped from The Netherlands to the USA by Lotje.
On the front of this beautiful vintage postcard is a sepia portrait of an elderly lady playing a violin and entertaining her friends. The portrait was a Golden Age painting by Dutch artist, Adriaan Van Ostade 1610 - 1685.
Under the portrait is a caption in 4 different languages that says:   "
The Violin Player
".   On the back is no handwriting.  The postcard was originally made in the Netherlands.  My guess is that this postcard dates back to about the 1940s.
Measurements are approximately: 3.5" x 5.5" so this is a standard size postcard.   Aside from very few small signs of surface wear, this card is still easy to see and appreciate!
