Up for sale is the CDV (Carte de visite) photograph (circa 1860) of the opera singer Marie van Zandt. She studied in Italy under Francesco Lamperti. She was most famous for her role in Lakme, which is on her grave marker, a role that Leo Delibes wrote for her. Other famous roles were in Mignon and La Sonnambula.
This CDV was taken by the famous Jeremiah Gurney in his studio at 872 Broadway.  This original photo measures 2 1/2" by 4".
