    (September 9, 1909 – April 15, 1994) was
    a versatile and internationally known tenor who performed on both the opera and concert stages.
    He sang more than fifty-five lyric and dramatic roles. He performed with the New York City Opera from 1945 to 1952 and with the Metropolitan Opera from 1953 to 1961. .
