The styrofoam cnc cutter Foamcut costycnc is an artigianal styrofoam cutter build at home with cut area of height 40cm ,thickness 15cm and more of 1,5 metters long.
The characteristic o this polystyrene cnc cutter is that use your table or another smooth surface with minim width 30cm .
The long can be more of 1.5 metters and dipends of long of the belt and long of your table!
The belt is Gt2 3mm and can buy more long from ebay.
This cnc router styrofoam machine contain two belt of 2.5 metters.

What the hotwire cutting is?
The Hotwire cutting is a cutting process extremely efficient and appreciated for modelling eps or similar rigid foam.
The cut with hotwire consists in the vaporization of the polystyrene foam because of the heating.
In fact, when the hot wire is passing through the material, it vaporises the foam with the radiant heat.
The hotwire foam cutters are tools commonly used for cutting polystyrene (also called Styrofoam or eps), but they are able to cut many other different type of foams.
The machines are equipped with cutting wire, made of Nickel Crome or Titanium, that is heated by a resistor up to 360-380C°
The cutting wires can have different diameters (usually goes from 0,15 to 0,50 mm , but this machine hae 0.2mm nickel crome wire).
The limits of cutting for this technology are restrained.
The depth of cutting depends of the wire length(this machine have 15cm wire lenght)
How editing or how prepare file for cut!
You need create black white file of one
foam cutting software
like inkscape or
a vector free software
like Paint online, Method draw, Vectr , Janvas ,ecc and transform file created with one of this program in gcode. Search on google "foam cutter editor" where you can find my "costycnc
foam cutting free program"
a program that transform your image in gcode. After this you needed a gcodesender like chrome gcodesender, Universal gcodesender, Lasergrbl, ecc to send file gcode to machine. That is all!!!
