    Description

    Original Sarony of New York carte de visite photograph of the young Swedish soprano.  An unusual image which shows her piecing eyes! c. 1872-1873 when she was in the U.S. the first time around.
    The Second Swedish Nightingale was the biggest international opera star after Jenny Lind.  She created Ophelie in Ambroise Thomas's opera Hamlet among other roles.  She also was the toast of Paris, London, New York and Boston.
