Anna Pavlova
(January 31, 1881 - January 23, 1931) - Russian ballet dancer, prima ballerina of the Mariinsky Theater in 1906-1913, one of the greatest ballerinas of the 20th century. After the outbreak of the First World War, she settled in Great Britain, constantly toured with her troupe around the world, performing in more than 40 countries, and in many of them she presented the art of ballet for the first time. The tour of Anna Pavlova contributed to the establishment of the world fame of Russian ballet. The choreographic miniature-monologue "The Dying Swan" performed by the ballerina has become one of the highest standards of the Russian ballet school.
