Four vintage all original very rare and hard to find 1940's Metropolitan opera star Lily Pons and Andre Kostelanetz Golden Age Of Opera operatic music promo promotional publicity photographs photos from their overseas music entertainment tour for the Armed Forces during World War 2. They are from the estate of Dorothy Crowthers who was the Editor-In-Chief Of The Baton magazine of The Institute Of Musical Art Of The Juilliard School Of Music from 1922 to 1932. There are four photos and many loose captions on tissue paper. Three of the cations match the photos. All of the captions read "Russell Birdwell And Associates, 20 Rockefeller Plaza, New York City". The four glossy finish 8" by 10" photos show the two with many other famous musicians and foreign scene backgrounds. The captions include Taj Mahal, China, Burma, India, France, Belgium, Germany, New Delhi, Frank Versaci flutist, Theodore Paxson pianist, Jain Temple, Calcutta, Dragon's Teeth Of The Siegfried Line, etc. The 4 photos and captions are in good to very good condition. Alice Josephine Pons (Lily Pons) was a French-American operatic soprano and actress. Kostelanetz was a famous Russian-born American orchestral music conductor and arranger. I have more photos on auction now and will be listing many other photos from the estate some signed and some unsigned in the near future.
